The Associated press reported October 6, 2011:
The chairman of a House study committee looking at Georgia’s
health benefit plan said that the state might require employees to
disclose dangerous activities like skydiving and RIDING MOTORCYCLES.
State Rep. Carl Rogers*, a Gainesville Republican, said Thursday
that the panel is looking to bring down skyrocketing costs in the
states health plan…… etc.
The article states that that experts in preventative care said that
programs which help employees get healthy can save $3 for ever $1
spent by the state. What does riding motorcycles have to do with
programs to get employees healthy?
Ok here is where the real issue starts. We must FIGHT
the notion that operating a motorcycle is a DANGEROUS activity.
It is not an “activity” such as sky diving. It is a mode of
transportation that is only “dangerous“ when distracted drivers
chatting on cell phones and texting [illegal in Georgia] slam their
damn vehicles into us.
Contact Representative Rogers (carl.rogers@house.ga.gov

and let him know you are offended that anyone would single out the
legal operation of a motor vehicle [motorcycle] as a way to decrease
insurance costs.
Pedestrians and pedal powered vehicle operators are as prone to
fatalities and injuries as motorcyclists as shown in various reports
from the GOHS. In the vast majority [near 70%] of cases, the
accidents involving motorcyclists are NOT the fault of the
motorcyclist.
Walking, riding bicycles and operating motorcycles have the same
degree of “danger”.
Do NOT single us out.
Do not discriminate against motorcyclists.
If we do not stop this BS now then this will filter down to
everyone’s health benefits.
